Old Photo & New Layout

I'm going back through old photos, trying to scrap some of my favorites that I never got around to doing.  I started scrapbooking in 2001 but then stopped after a couple of years. I finally picked it back up in 2010 and I haven't looked back.  I love making pages.  I have tons of photos that I took before I started scrapping and from my break.  I don't think I will ever run out of things to scrapbook, at least I hope not.

This photo is of my oldest daughter Alexis, I took this photo back in 2008 she was 13 at the time and I just started getting into photography more. I used most of the March Studio Calico kit and some stamps from previous kits the flowers are from the embellishment grab bag that I scored.  The white dots are made with Mr. Huey's Calico White mist on a polka-dotted mask, then I just stamped sentiments in between the lines and used the Amy Tan thickers that came in the kit for a tone on tone look.

The 2 of You Getting Along - Layout Share

I'm finally getting around to blogging some of my layouts, I hope I can keep it up.

This layout is using some various items from Studio Calico kits.  Most of it is from Block Party (Jan Kit) but some of it is from 34th Street (Dec Kit).

I found this picture in my daughter's instagram, I usually look for picture for project life, but I came across this picture that she took of herself and her brother.  They are always fighting but I found this was so cute that they actually liked each other for a few minutes and took some cute pictures.

Thanks for looking...

I think you're Amazing - Layout Share

For this layout I used a lot of items, pretty much all of this came from kits that I got from Studio Calico.  I cut the papers in to banners and layered them as a mat for the photo and I stamped on of the arrow border stamps form Studio Calico's stamp set.  For the first embellishment cluster I layered the arrow star burst die cut along with a vellum die cut and the Nerd talk bubble at the top right of the photo. On the bottom I made another cluster by using one of the labels that came in the kit, along with one of the wood potty people,  I stamped the glasses on card stock and then made them into a flair and added another star burst die cut.  I splattered some Mister Huey's and stamped the arrows from the kit around the page and then stamped and additional color as the outline. I used some of the exclusive enamel dots made for Studio Calico from MME.

Thanks for looking!

Silly, Crazy & Wild - Sunday Sketch - Layout Share

I got an email from Studio Calico to create a layout based on one of their sketches, I of course jumped on the opportunity and loved it.

Please go check it out on their blog: Studio Calico - Sunday Sketch

When I saw this sketch I knew this one would be perfect for these pictures of my oldest daughter.  I like how the banners and sentiment provided a base for the pictures to rest on.  I added a few more banners for depth and then tucked the pictures under a banner and used diecuts to create the title, turning them all slightly, so they would sit as silly as she is in the pictures. I also really liked Maggie's doodle around the edge of the card and her arrows, but instead of using just a pen since this is a bigger scale I decided to cut one of the patter papers from the kit into to strips and then I mitered the edges together, to give it a little extra detail, then sewed around the whole thing and did a zig zag stitch on all the mitered corners.  I added the chevron pieces that I cut from another sheet of the pattern paper to follow along with her arrows that she had hand drawn.  Instead of doing the three stars like the sketch I decided to change it up a bit and use some of the brads, sequins and rhinestone stars that came in the kit to make three small clusters instead.

Supplies: Sock Hop, Leather Jacket & Penny Loafers kits

Halloween 2012

My kids are 18, 15, 13 and 11, my youngest Izaiah, was the only one really interested in dressing up and going trick or treating.  And of course he wanted me to make him a zombie, which I totally didn't mind doing. I did the make up for him and his little friend.  Now Donovan our 13 year old said he was too old but he was going to go walk with them.  Or so we thought, he came back with a good amount of candy too. He broke my rule, no trick or treating if you don't dress up.  I'll let him slide this year but next, he will be dressing up to go.

Oh and we had a little costume thing at work if you dressed up you got to leave early and they were giving away prizes for different categories, I'll find out today if I actually won anything.  Here is my costume...I was a pop art girl, lol.  It was funny because when I got to work, people didn't even recognize me, so I guess that was a good thing.  And mine sign, well it goes along with my job, we deal with retirement accounts so I tried to come up with something that fit in with my actual job.

My Girls - Homecoming 2012

My girls looked beautiful for Homecoming this year and I just love the pictures I took of them.  It was raining so we were not able to go on location anywhere so I just did a mini studio session of them at home.

Sonja is 15 and a sophomore this year and I just cannot get over how beautiful and grown up she looks now.

I'm so proud of my beautiful babies!

Alexis is now 18 and a senior this year, I really cannot believe she is about to graduate high school!

Throwback Thursday - Triple Threat

So this edition of Throwback Thursday has a little bit of variety, the scrapbooking kind (I use that term loosely) and the photo type.

I have another old layout that I am sharing that was from Feb 2003, it's a two page spread I did of my son (who is now 11) about his first haircut.  I am grateful that I captured things like this but I am so disappointed in my execution, lol.  I cannot believe I have a pocket with some of his hair.  I mean one curl would be cute, but it looks like I have a little mini Afro in the pocket.  I am looking at the title and this is when I first started embossing, I used silver and embossed squares several times and then I think maybe the third or forth time I stamped on the square to make the letter impression, I was cutting edge back then, or so I thought.  I do love that technique, maybe I will have to try that again sometime soon.
The 2nd leg of this Throwback Thursday is a picture of my girls... I have to share this picture that my two daughters sent me last week, they both were going through each other's boxes of pictures and were finding old embarrassing (to them) photos of each other and posting them on Instagram and tagging each other, it turned into a real battle.  I mean there were even some tears.  The top picture was when they were ages 6 and 4 and then the bottom picture is current and they are 17 and 15.  I cannot wait to to a page about this.

So keeping with the Throwback Thursday theme, the 3rd leg, here is one of the first pictures my now husband and I took when we were dating, this picture is from 2006.

Layout Share...
This weekend just came and went so very fast, it's such a shame, I need more!!  Last week I finished my 6th and 7th layout using my August Studio Calico kit.  I'm running thin with it,I have only one or two full sheets left and I managed to use only a couple of things here and there from my stash.  Now it's time to start adding in extras from my stash to finish out this kit.  I am really hoping to get it all used up before my next one gets here in September.

Here is layout number 6, I used the wood grain cardstock as my background and some metallic rub on ink to give it some color and to show the lines.  These metallic rub ons are from my stash, from back in 2004, I believe.  Yeah way back, they look sort of like watercolors but they are more like a paste, very thin.  I just used my finger to rub it all in and smear it back and for.  It almost looks like a vivid chalk with a shimmer.  I really wish I could find these some where again, I loved them back years ago.

I liked the silver letter stickers that came in the kit but I didn't have much to add that matched so I took some of the chip and stick banner and button pieces and painted them silver and then added silver stickles to the them that way I could accent around and pick up the silver glitter color.  I think it worked well.

Here is a look at layout # 7....

Throwback Thursday Plus Some Current Layouts

I have pulled up the very first layout that I posted on to two peas back in November of 2002, that is over 10 years ago.  I have an old gallery there under a different pea name, I had taken a several year break from scrapbooking when I divorced my kids' dad and when I got back to it, I had forgotten my pea name.

With today being Throwback Thursday I figured instead of an old picture of me and my husband I thought I would go back and find an old layout to share.  Wow is all I can say, lol.  The picture is horrible too.

This was about our California trip, it's a 2 page spread (I was really into those) all about our day at the San Diego Zoo.
And here is a look at two layouts I finished yesterday...I think I have made some tweaks, lol. I'm still using the August kits from Studio Calico and I have to say that that I am loving the fact that I can get such a variety of colors.  I have managed to get some soft tones and some bold bright ones, it's just great that I feel I can get so many looks out of the same kit.  I was really worried that joining the kit club that I would have a hard time making my pages all look different and honestly it has bee a no brainer.  Studio Calico really does put some truly good kits together.

This is one of our pit bulls and since they are inside dogs they are not much for the outside heat here in Texas but Solae loves to go outside roll in the grass and sun bathe.  It's the funniest thing she will lay like that for several minutes.

This was my first time using an enlarged photo, I have been wanting to try it and I am very pleased with the results. I wanted the page to be fun and silly just like my kids in the photo.

Oh an here is another sneak at what's I'm in the middle of creating...notice another great color scheme. lol

Thanks for looking!

Cheer Tragedy.....sort of.

Yesterday I got the scary call that no parent likes to get....

My daughter was at cheer practice, not for the school but for a competitive team outside of school and apparently she came down wrong on her bad ankle.  And when the coach call she said "its bad we think she needs to go to the Dr", not what I wanted to hear at all.

So my husband and I had to jump in the car and go up there.  I picked up her up and went straight to the emergency room and he took his car, the one she drove up there in home.  So a few hours later we learned it's not broken, but that would have been easier to fix but instead it's a bad sprain or even torn ligiments.  Due to the swelling they couldn't do much but put her in an air cast and put her on crouches.  We have to set an appointment up for next week witht he orthopedic doctor....this is one for my project life book.

She has been playing volleyball for several years and no issues, she goes back to competitive cheer after a long hiatus and then bam an injury....

I encouraged her to take today off from school but with there being only two weeks left she was so scared to miss any of the reviews for her finals {insert proud mom moment}.  She chose to suffer the throbbing and go off to school.  Luckily it's not her driving foot so she can still drive....she's a real trooper.

Here is my instagram recap of last night.... I love the sweet tweet my hubby sent, even though he didn't come sit up all night in the emergency room with me.
When she got to school her first period is athletics so off to the trainers she went to and she sent me this picter of how they have her laying with her leg in the air with some contraption on her ankle.  Oh and below you will see her zebra print crouches, lol.  She said its my fault they are deocrated, I stuck her with this creative gene and no matter how much she tries to surpress it, it still comes out every once in a while.  I'm not sure if that is a compliment or jab, lol.
