Cheer Tragedy.....sort of.

Yesterday I got the scary call that no parent likes to get....

My daughter was at cheer practice, not for the school but for a competitive team outside of school and apparently she came down wrong on her bad ankle.  And when the coach call she said "its bad we think she needs to go to the Dr", not what I wanted to hear at all.

So my husband and I had to jump in the car and go up there.  I picked up her up and went straight to the emergency room and he took his car, the one she drove up there in home.  So a few hours later we learned it's not broken, but that would have been easier to fix but instead it's a bad sprain or even torn ligiments.  Due to the swelling they couldn't do much but put her in an air cast and put her on crouches.  We have to set an appointment up for next week witht he orthopedic doctor....this is one for my project life book.

She has been playing volleyball for several years and no issues, she goes back to competitive cheer after a long hiatus and then bam an injury....

I encouraged her to take today off from school but with there being only two weeks left she was so scared to miss any of the reviews for her finals {insert proud mom moment}.  She chose to suffer the throbbing and go off to school.  Luckily it's not her driving foot so she can still drive....she's a real trooper.

Here is my instagram recap of last night.... I love the sweet tweet my hubby sent, even though he didn't come sit up all night in the emergency room with me.
When she got to school her first period is athletics so off to the trainers she went to and she sent me this picter of how they have her laying with her leg in the air with some contraption on her ankle.  Oh and below you will see her zebra print crouches, lol.  She said its my fault they are deocrated, I stuck her with this creative gene and no matter how much she tries to surpress it, it still comes out every once in a while.  I'm not sure if that is a compliment or jab, lol.

Randomness & My weekend recap....

CURRENTLY
Time: 9:22 am
Location: Work
Eating: nada
Drinking: White Chocolate Mocha from Starbucks
Thinking: that I am ready for the 3 day weekend already
Listening: Pandora, more specifically my Keisha Cole radio station
Loving: that I had such a relaxing weekend
Enjoying: my life an all the beautiful people that are privileged to be apart of it
Wanting: these next 3 weeks to fly by so we can go on our family beach vacation
Needing: my computer fixed, it crashed yesterday, luckily my husband doesn't use his so I took it over.

My weekend was relaxing, productive and then BANG it ended with stress...

I was working away on my computer Sunday morning and then it froze on me, I mean it would not do anything, so I shut it down and when I restarted it, the monitor was blank and they tower just beeped.  I sounded like it was crying out in agony.  Thankfully I am all caught up on editing and my clients are save on my EHD but my Cameo and my Photoshop are on that computer.  I quickly made the move and took over my husbands computer.  I got my silhouette software on there but I cannot find my Photoshop software to load, so I am just screwed, I shoot everything in RAW even though it's all saved on my EHD and have no access to them right now because I have no Photoshop.  UGH!

Before that I did have a great weekend...the kids were all gone so it was just me and hubby.

1. I love lazy Saturdays
2. Birthday party for a niece
3. Dinner at my favorite place. :)
4. I picked the dinner location so he got to choose the movie.  I actually liked the movie though.
5. Some journaling cards I designed for my project life/
6. More journaling cards I made.
7. A layout I worked on
8. Some brads I made....I really like how these turned out and I cannot wait to use them.

I finally got to try Red Velvet Cake Ice Cream and I will say it really does live up to all the hype, it so good!!!

Weekley Challenge Layout - Studio Calico

I followed Lisa Trusedell's weekly challenge over on the Studio Calico blog, it was to use a background patterened paper instead of cardstock, so last night this is what I came up with.

With this page I did a few things I don't normally do, I added some puff paint to the chipboard letters to give it some extra depth.  I also used my finger to just randomly smear some paint around as well, I like the added texture and depth it gives me, I'll definately be using this again.  The little frame in the top left corner was one of the dollar stamps I got from Michaels, I just smear some of the paint in it as well and popped it off the page.

This is an old picture of my husband from back in 2006, we used to hit happy hour a lot, lol.

My Scraproom in the Family Room

I don't have a room designated for just my scrapbooking but I do have an area, more of a corner in the family room.  But it actually is plenty of space for me, I've made good use of the room I do have.

The game room consists of several areas, at the top of the stairs is the Family Communication /Homework Center that I blogged about here. There is also a desk for my husband that he doesn't really use, sometimes the boys may use his computer but it's there for him as he needs it.  Then you have our TV area, this is where the big screen and surround sound is, mainly for us to watch movies.  This room also has the extra Xbox that we use for the Rockband or DJ Hero.

Then there is my area that I will show you now.Coming up the stairs and turning to your right you see my section in the back.

Here is a little closer look.

This is my desk, I edit pictures here, my cameo is here along with my Canon photo printer, the main wireless printer is set up on my husbands desk.

This is my main work area, I can either stand or sit, just depends what I'm in the mood for.  I got this kitchen cart at Ikea for $99.  I used small curtain hooks and attached painted wooden dowels to the end and front. The end one holds my inks that I edge with and the applicators I use with them.  The drawers hold acrylic blockss, adhesives and my distressing tools.  The black shelves are also from Ikea, the top one holds some adhesives, buttons and flowers. The one below that holds some sequence, my mini xyron, some glitter glue and some glimmer mists.  The pegboard I got at Home Depot and hods a basket of my Mister Huey's, some pop dots and some other various tools that just didn't fit in drawer or took up too much space. Below the cart and to the left are my pattern paper and scraps sorted by color in one and then the other is sets of collections in there own plastic envelopes and various paper pads.  I cannot bring myself to separate them out.

To the right of the cart you will see some drawers that I got at Ikea and they hold things like glitter, pins, staples, post-its and just lots of min things that I need.  Below that is a ribbon holder, I made this, these are ribbons I don't tend to use for scrapbooking but for gifts or other crafts.  All this is a small wooden dowel painted black and attached to the bottom of the shelf with three S hooks, so simple and cheap but out of my way.  Below them is my tool caddy I like that on the shelf and out of my workspace, next to it is my temporary hold for my letter stickers or thickers, they are filed by color, I have not found a better way yet to store them.

Here you have my rubbermaid drawers, starting from the left I  have inks, embossing powders and then various acrylic paints.  The 2nd one hold my washi tapes, ribbons, feathers, puff paints.  The last one holds punches in the first four drawers then I have twine and then raw chipboard. On top of them you have my other xyron machines and the wire shelf to the right of that holds my typewriter, my bind-it-all and some other various storage.  To the right of that the small black shelf holds my original baby bug and some other business supplies underneath that.

This is my carstock, my sewing machine and my hobby lobby clip it up.

This is the bottom of my cart, it holds some extra paper pads that do not fit in my plastic containers.  The plastic box next to them holds all of my project life items sorted in business card boxes, it's the easiest way so far for me, I can just pull it hout when I need it.  The black orgainizer at the bottom hols some 6x6 and 8x8 pads, as you can see I don't have many.

This the view from my workstation back to the top of the stairs and the family/homework center.  The note on the dry erase board does say Pray for... my daughter wrote it she has her first SAT testing tomorrow and she's pretty nervous.

This is the view from my workstation back into the family room, you can see the sectional couch helps divide the area but I can still view the tv.

Well that is my area, thanks for looking!
