PITBULLS - The True Story - Houston Pet Photography

OMG...IT'S A PITBULL...RUN...........

and love it because it will love you back unconditionally.

Our family is well blended, consisting of my husband, myself, our two girls, our two boys and three amazing dogs....our Pits.  I know there is that "FEAR" of pitbulls but before you judge the breed based on negative aspects you have to acknowledge that the follow or at least one of the following are true ...poor and uneducated ownership is high, hyped stories in the media about a dog attack usually surfaces only if the dog resembles a pitbull, the inability to prove a pitbull and not a "pitbull type dog" was the aggressor, this can only be proven by DNA.

I would consider ourselves educated with the breed, we have had all three of these dogs since the age of 6wks.  The oldest being Dejeah, has been when me for over 13 years.  The other two are 4 years old and have been with my husband and myself for their entire life.  We do not chain our dogs, we do not leave them in the yard, they are part of our family, they are a VERY important part of our family.  Our dogs are crate trained and they do sleep in their crate at night, during the day they have the run of our home.  Minus one rug mishap they have been very well behaved considering.  When we have guests over other than our family and close friends they are put in their crate.

SEE...YOU CRATE YOUR DOG BECAUSE YOU ARE WORRIED YOUR DOG WILL ATTACK....

Actually no that is not the case, I am an educated owner, I know that these dogs are loyal and very protective of our family.  Our dogs know our kids and trust our kids as our kids trust our dogs....do I worry that another child not in my family could antagonize my dog, Yes.  A lot of times they are put up because freinds that come over are scared, not because our dogs have done anything to hurt anyone but because people gather discriminating opinions about pitbulls and people have an unsupported fear, so again we crate our dogs to give ease to those that come to our house and are afraid based on their own beliefs.

THEY ACT LIKE BABY DUCKS AND WE ARE THE DUCK PARENTS....

It's true, if you see myself or my husband walking through the house you will see three pitbulls following closely behind and I do mean CLOSE.  If we stop too suddenly, they will run into us.  I promise you I have felt many a cold noses on the back of my knees.  Where ever we go they are sure to follow, they have to be close.  And CLOSE meaning too close, always under the desk if we are sitting at the desk, on any side of our bed, outside our bedroom door if we happen to close it quick enough to cut them off from folloing us in.

We love our dogs, they ARE part of the family and even though I may trip on them as I turn in place to walk out of a room, I would not trade them for the world.

Check out our pits and read a little bit more individual info on each of them....

My Epiphanie Belle Bag - The Review

I got this bag for my birthday back in April, it actually didn't come in time for my birthday, it was on back order and then the shipping date was postponed twice.  I finally got it in May, even though there were some set backs I really don't have anything negative to say about the bag itself.

In fact when I got my hands on the bag and started filling it up and using it, I forgot all about the shipping delay.

It arrived in this cute little dust bag...

Isn't it just beautiful?

This is what it looks like when I fill it up....

And here is an explanation of everything I can put in my bag....

Westfield Cowboys - Scrimmage #1 - Little League Football - Houston Sports Photography

It's that time again....Football season.  I'm not a big football fan at all except for my boys, when they play I can get all into it.  I don't care for the NFL, I'm just being honest.  I don't have a personal interest in it and I just cannot bring myself to watch it.  I thank god that we have 6 televisions in our house, I always have somewhere to sneak away to when my husband starts watching it. lol

Last Saturday the Junior Westfield Cowboys had their first scrimmage against the Eagles....It was hot.....it was really hot....did I mention it was hot?   I can't wait for the season to get under way, but I do wish it was cooler already...these lunch time games are going to be the death of me.

Go Cowboys!

Yay, I was featured......

How neat is it to be featured on a website.....for me pretty neat.  I am not a "public" crafter, I don't make a lot of things and post them here but after I blogged about the Nautical Baby Shower (found HERE) that I designed and co-hosted for my sister-in-law, it feels good to see that some one noticed all the work I did and can appreciate some craft projects.

You should check out The Project Girl's website HERE, she has lots of DIY, Crafting, Remodeling and Scrapbooking, great projects and lots of inspiration!

Thanks again for the feature!!!

Ashley's Maternity Session in Old Katy - Houston Maternity Photographer

Meet Ashley's a really cute mom who is about to have her 2nd  baby.  She actually won a FREE session from me at the beginning of this summer but she wanted to save it for her maternity pictures.  I met her, her husband and their cute little girl out in Katy at Heritage Park, this was my first time shooting here and I must say this park was so cute.  It reminded me of the Sam Houston Park in downtown Houston, I love the old houses but this park just had more of a country feel to it.

When her husband got out the truck he mention that this might just be the quickest session I ever had, lol. It's seems their little girl was such a free spirit, she just could not be contained, she wanted to feel her toes in the grass and wasn't having much to do with me. We did manage to get some shots of her and then dad was kind enough to go play with her while I snuck in a few shots of Ashley. She is just the cutest little thing.  Actually, I think their whole family is just too darn cute!  I wishm them all the luck with expanding their family....

A Navy, White & Yellow Nautical Baby Shower

For the last 4 weeks my life has felt like a whirlwind, I have been planning the decor for my sister-in-law Tiffany's baby shower.  She's married to my brother and they are expecting their first baby, MY first nephew and I am so very excited.  I wanted the shower to be something special and memorable so I basically threw myself into it, literally.  It basically consumed me, lol.  I am so very happy with the way it turned out and so happy to show it off.  I scoured the internet for inspiration and put my own twist on some things.  Tiffany has his room with a nautical theme so I know I wanted that but I didn't want the traditional blue, red and white that you associate with the theme, I ended up going with navy, white and yellow and I have to admit I am very happy with the end results.

It started with the invites....I worked hard on these and they turned out better than I had hoped.

I kept the yellow banner as a theme throughout, I bought the life preserver at Michael's as unfinished wood and then painted it added the blue ribbon and even decoupaged the letters for S.S. Nathan. All of the desert platters are glass plate glued to vases and painted to match the decor.  They cost literally about $2.50 each. I made the giant paper fans from posterboard, each paper fan is two posterboards.  The yellow "rose balls" are actually crepe paper roses on a styrofoam ball and attached to what was once a clear vase from Hobby Lobby but I painted them white to match. For the bunting, I could not find the perfect paper, anywhere so I actually designed the paper in photoshop and printed it myself, it was really simple and added that exact match that I was looking for.

The cake came from a wonderful woman located on the far east side of Houston, it was a drive for my mom but well worth it. It tasted amazing and she made it better than the original inspiration I showed her, the details were amazing.  You could actually see what looked like nails in the boat, the waves were perfect.

The pretzels were made by my 14 yr old daughter, she helped out so much and I am so appreciative to her for all her help in getting ready for this day.  I also had put my other kids to work at home, lol.  The jello cups turned out so cute, I actually saw this on Pinterest but they were made with oranges but as you can see orange did not fit my color scheme so I used lemons as the mini sailboat base.

This table served as an entry for the guests, it displayed the diaper cake I made (the very first one I ever made actually), the favors, the name tags and the guest book.  For the favors I took baby food jars and filled them with bath salt, painted the lids and added a custom label.  Inside there was a note rolled up (to resemble a message in a bottle) that said a cute little poem.  I had a little sign next to envelopes where the guest could pre-fill there address for the thank you notes to help the mom to be out.  For the guest book I saw where people were using their thumb prints to make trees and guests would sign around it.  I took it a little be farther and made a guest book with plain white pages and I asked the guests to stamp their thumbs and then write a little message or advide to the parents.

I love how the diaper cake turned out, I wanted it to be a decoration
and it turned out better than I had expected.

I really thought these name tags were going to be the death of me, lol.  I made 32 of these things, they were not that difficult but a little time consuming.  I wanted them to resemble the paper fans
and be a little over the top, I think they were.

Tiffany's stepmom was in chage of the food, I simply just wrapped the plastic ware and helped with the table decor.  I painted little wooden sailboats and a couple of lighthouse.  Over the table I used more bunting and on each end a cluster of paper lanterns to give it a finished look.  The table cloths that you see on both tables and island were painters drop cloths. Yes they were a little bit more than a normal table cloth for a party but they were thicker, longer, wider and gave a canvas look to help tie in with the nautical theme.

We chose to stick with easy and quick games, but one thing I really wanted to try was to let the guest decorate a onezie or burp cloth for the mom-to-be.  It was a hit and a lot of fun to see what the guests came up with.  I supplied plenty of fabric, paints, fabric markers and templates.

And here is the guest of honor....my sister-in-law Tiffany....I am so ready for her to pop out my nephew!  I made her this ridiculously large name tag to where all day, as if any one couldn't tell she was the guest of honor with that gi-normous belly.
Thanks for looking and if any of you want to know how I did something or more details leave me some comments and I will try to answer you.
